Community Welfare & Education Project

More than 30 volunteers have participated in this project and we have visited the following places:
• Orphanages (4x)
• Home for the Aged
• Special Schools for the: Deafs (2x), Blinds and Disabled
• Monastic Schools (2x)
• Monastery with more than 1,400 monks and nuns
• Schools in Village

Donated the following:
• Robes for over 1,400 Maha Sangha Members (Monks and Nuns)
• Donated the PABX Phone System to the Mahasantisukha Buddha Sasana Centre
• > 150Kgs of Milk Powder
• Nappies
• Medicine (valued > S$1,000)
• Multi-Vitamins + Food Supplements (valued > S$3,000)
• Computers: 1 New (valued > S$1,500) + Used-Computers (47x)
• Scanners (2x) + Printer
• Used Photostat Machines + Used Overhead Projector
• Power Generator (valued ~ S$1,000)
• Furniture for school
• Stationeries & Books
• Blankets, Used Clothes, Toys & Others

Cash Donations – of more than S$15,000 for the following purposes:
• Building of a Deep-Well for an Orphanage (valued ~ S$1,000)
• Construction of a School in Bilin, State of Mon
• Construction of Roads Near Monasteries
• Endowment Funds
• Seed Money for: Construction of Medical Centre in Village + Emergency Fund

Hearing Aids Project

About 20 volunteers involved in this project, of whom majority are medical students at the National University of Singapore and one ENT surgeon

Donated:
• 260 Sets of Hearing Aids
• 2 sets of Audiometers to the Yangon General Hospital
• 2 Sets of Middle Ear Testers to the Yangon General Hospital

Volunteers conducted detailed screening:
• Middle Ear Test
• Audiometry Test

• more than 2,000 people responded to this project and more than 700 pre-screened patients were informed to report to the MSBSC (our partner at Yangon) for more detailed screening by our volunteers
• suitable cases who qualified (based on age, financial status and jobs) were fitted with free hearing aids by our partners (MBSC and Yangon General Hospital)

Training in Advance Audiological Trainers Programme (December 2001)
• Sponsored the training of 3 Medical Personnels from Yangon to attend training in Singapore
