2005 report -

Just as the
parasol
(layered
umbrella), a significant cultural icon in South Asian societies
used in important occasions, requires community involvement in
its production,
our entire project is the coming together of caring,
passionate people with different expertise,
in different parts of the world.
This collective effort is like
weaving a psychological parasol, serving to integrate,
empower and rebuild the affected communities in Kalutara,
Galle, Matara & Hambantota, Sri Lanka
and strengthen their sense of
involvement and local community ties.
We invite you to be one of the weavers,
weaving to hold the communities back together

We invite you to be one of the weavers,
weaving to hold the communities back together
Three main
objectives this year:
1) Parasol
Weavers -
Post Tsunami
Projects
- Firefly together with
Singapore Buddhist
Federation and Shan You Counseling Centre have a project called
Parasol Weavers, where we will help finance the reconstruction
of about 7-10 community halls in Temples affected by the
Tsunami.

2) Boys
Home in Galle
– Firefly financed the building of a Boys Home in Galle and the
building is now completed. We will be officially handing over
the building to Bhante Udita Maha Thero during this trip.

3) Project
Ekacctra – Firefly has
sponsored a Security Sound System for the world famous and
historical Tooth Relic Temple in Kandy. The historical handing
over ceremony will be held during our trip.
