Relief Support to fire victims in Bangladesh – May 2021

A raging fire broke up in the night of 17 May 2021 and razed the homes of 70 families to ashes in Bangladesh. It was a black Monday for the Village with a total of 89 families in Talukder Para, Taracha Union, Rowanchari Sub-district, Bandarban Hill Districts. Most people are now living in the open and some took shelter in the village primary school.

Firefly Mission (FFM) has been sponsoring the education and welfare of 8 orphanages in Bangladesh comprising about 850 children for the past 8-9 years. FFM has received an urgent appeal on Vesak Day (26 May 2021) from BABWO orphanage to help the affected village for a list of 10 basic food and necessities. The Exco sprang to action and remitted overnight the funds as requested for food, cooking pots, blanket etc. Children at BABWO quickly packed all the relief items and delivered them to the affected families. This brought so much relief and warmth to the families who were worried about their next meal and sleeping in the cold. We are so proud of the children in the orphanage we have cared for and see them growing up to be compassionate and responsible beings. They certainly learnt a lot from the experience to help others in need.… together we light up the world.\
