Good Evening
Firt of all, let us
praise to our impressive teacher with giving thank in Dhamma
Namo Buddhaya. It is a good destiny for us because we can gather
in this moment happily.
For this
opportunity, I on behalf of all students of Smaratungga Buddhist
College, I would like to give impreesion to Volunteers of
Firefly Mission for helping us in providing facilities to our
college.
At first time we
met volunteers of Firefly Mission in Ampel on November 2008.
they wore simple clothes and have a good attitude. But behind
their simplicity, they actually have incredible mission and
spirit. At the time, they came to our college to get along with
us and giving holy book Tipitaka. at the same day, Bhante
Kheminda as a resource person gave seminar about “Abhidhamma In
Daily Life”. He is some one who introduce us with volunteers of
Firefly Mission. Bhante, thank you so much for introducing us
with volunteers of Firefly Mission.
Firefly Mission is
a unique name. It is an organization which is full of love and
care about Buddhist development, especially in education.
“Together We Light Up The World” is their motto. In our mind,
Firefly Mission has the meaning that this organization has a
mission which is resemble firefly. Honourable Bhikkhu Sangha,
Honourable Ladies and Gentlemen, and all of you my bothers and
sisters in Dhamma, do you know what the firefly is doing in the
dark of the night? They gives a light iin the darkness of the
night. According to us, it is suitable if this organization
choose Firefly Mission as its namne with motto “Together We
Ligth Up The World”, because it emphasizes in human services and
really cares in education world. So far, this organization has
helped many countries including Indonesia, especially our
college, Smaratungga Buddhist College, by giving some computers
portable, Dhamma Books in English, and many things that can help
our learning process and a precious gift that is a holy book
Tipitaka in English-Pale leguage. Why does I say that Tipitaka
is a precious gift? Because it contains many truth teaching of
Buddha Gautama for 45 years. It was taught by Buddha in
Dhammapada:
Sabbadanam
Dhammadanam Jinati,
t’s means the gift
of truth excels all gifts.
Actually, the
fragrance of incense and flowers can’t against wind direction,
but the fragrance of truth will be able to spread against the
wind and it is always scattered everywhere. We hope Firefly
Mission always be in spirit in lighting the world with love.
Keep it on my brothers and sisters in the Dhamma. May it grows
new Firefly Mission in future. So the world is always lighted
with amazing love.

admirable friends, before I end my speech, i on behalf of all
students of Smaratungga Buddhist College would like to express
our gratitude to volunteers of Firefly Mission for this
wonderful friendship. Good luck for you! May your kindness that
you have done to us bring a happiness forever and ever.
