Rules to be Observed by Yogis
during Meditation Retreat
Meditation Rules
1.
Yogis must report to their meditation teacher daily for
interviews and further instructions. Other than interview hours,
yogis can discuss with the Meditation teacher (about their
practice only) when he is available.
2.
Yogis must take the practice sincerely and should not come here
to read, eat and sleep only.
3.
Yogis must practise according to the instructions given by the
meditation teacher.
General Rules
1.
Yogis must stay at SBS.
2.
You are advised to bring sleeping bag, blanket, sweater, pillow,
torch light, toiletries and ointment for insect bites.
3.
Yogis must observe the 8
precepts. (Yogis should understand clearly about the 8
precepts).
4.
Dress modestly in the retreat premises. You should wear full
length trousers/skirt/dress/sarong and preferably plain t-shirt
or blouse. Wear comfortable clothes. Do not wear short skirts,
short pants, sleeveless shirts, leotards, see-through and
tight-fitting clothes.
5.
Yogis are practising mindfulness in their daily activities.
Exercises which will disperse mindfulness and concentration
should be avoided.
6.
Yogis are discouraged from receiving visitors.
7.
Reading
of any material (except material prepared by retreat
coordinator) and writing of letters are not allowed. Yogis are
permitted to take down notes of their meditation experiences.
8.
Yogis must observe noble
silence.
9.
Medium of instruction is English.

Meditation Teacher - Bhante Aggacitta

About
Venerable Aggacitta Bhikkhu
Venerable Aggacitta Bhikkhu is a Malaysian Theravada Buddhist monk
who received his higher ordination at Mahasi Meditation Centre,
Rangoon, Burma, in 1979. He was trained under various teachers,
notably Sayadaw U Pandita (Panditarama), Sayadaw U Tissara (Yankin
Forest Monastry), and Sayadaw U Acinna (Pa Auk Forest Monastery).
Besides practising meditation, he studied advanced Pali and
translation in Thai and Burmese under Sayadaw U Dhammananda at
Wat Tamaoh, Lampang, Thailand, from 1983 to 1984. He continued
to study the Pali Tipitaka and researched on its interpretation
and practice in Myanmar until his return to Malaysia at the end
of 1994.
In 2000, he founded Sasanarakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS), a
Theravada monk training center nestled among secluded valleys
and brooks near Taiping, Perak, Malaysia.
