Since 2011, Firefly Mission has partner with Bhutan Nuns Foundation for various projects in Bhutan.
The mission of the Bhutan Nuns Foundation (BNF) is to empower and educate Bhutanese women and young girls who are in the nunneries.
The Nuns sponsorship helps to improve the living conditions, health and well-being of nuns, provide quality education and services, and foster self-reliance. This in turn helps preserve Bhutan’s strong, sustainable culture and promotes nuns, other women and girls as agents of social change in a rapidly changing modern society. Her Majesty the Queen Mother is the Patronage of BNF.

Below are some of the projects' details or update...
Bhutan Healing Centre (In Progress)
The Bhutan Healing Centre, will be residing at the site of the current Bhutan Nuns Training & Resource Centre. The medical centre will be employing traditional healing methods to treat the nuns.
Bhutan Nun Sponsorship Program (on-going)
The Nuns sponsorship helps to improve the living conditions, health and well-being of nuns, provide quality education and services, and foster self-reliance. This in turn helps preserve Bhutan’s strong, sustainable culture and promotes nuns, other women and girls as agents of social change in a rapidly changing modern society. Her Majesty the Queen Mother is the Patronage of BNF.
In 2023, sponsors 80 nuns sponsorship supporting 30 nunneries.
Nun Training Center
FFM has sponsored a Nuns training center classroom block with 2 levels and a dining block at the Nuns Training & Resource Centre located at Tsalumaphay, Thimphu.
BNF Training Centre’s Labourers’ Children
During the BNF Training Centre construction, the young children of the labourers were also at the sites watching their parents working. As they were too young to start formal education, BNF took the opportunity to provide learning program for labourers’ young children. The teachers teach the children basic things such as saying a prayer when they eat or drink, how to greet others, how to interact with people and respect each other. Within a year, the children have transformed to be confident children.
The budget is S$500 per month for teaching material and salary for the teacher or $12,000 for the 2 years benefiting about 25 children.
