Background

Firefly Mission participated in our first Kathina in Sasanarakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS) in 2003. That leads to the on-going annual event for FFM to partake in the Kathina event at SBS and subsequently other monasteries in Malaysia.

Over the years we have met many Kalyanamitta (spiritual friends) in Malaysia from various monasteries and institutions like SBS, Nalanda, BUDS, Tzu Chi, RPMC, Santi Forest Monastery etc. where we continue to learn from one another.

Below are some of the projects' details or update...

Keningau Sabah Project

On the Aug 2018, Bro Lawrence Lee and Benny Ong from Sabah presented to Firefly Mission the works of Matakana’s Keningau school in Sabah.

The project is to expand the Keningau School in Sabah with 2 additional classrooms, a staff room, a store room, 3 toilets and a covered roof that spans across the current building and the two new proposed 2 classrooms. The school is for stateless children whose parents are illegal migrant workers from Indonesia and the Philippines.

Project Details
The cost of the project is RM93,304 (building RM78,454 and furnishing RM14,850).
Project completed : Mar 2019
Benefits: 180 students

Partial Sponsorship of Wisdom Park

Firefly Mission has agreed to do a partial sponsorship towards the Wisdom Park Administration Building.

Building of SBS Kuti and Toilets

Firefly Mission has agreed to do a sponsorship of RM40,000 towards SBS Kuti and Toilets.
